Eros, in spite, shot Apollo with a gold tipped arrow, causing him to fall madly in love with Daphne. At the same time, he shot Daphne with a lead-tipped arrow, making her want to flee from all love. Apollo pursued Daphne relentlessly, until Daphne pleaded to the Gods for assistance, and was turned into a laurel tree.
